What To Do If You Have To Postpone Your Wedding Due To COVID-19

First of all, we are so sorry that you’ve had to postpone your wedding. We know the decision could not have been easy. But, that doesn’t mean that your new wedding plans can’t be even better than before. A new wedding date gives you something to look forward to, and don’t we all need that right now? If you’ve had to postpone your wedding plans, here are a few tips to make the transition easier.

Contact your wedding vendors to discuss your options for refunding and rescheduling. Venues are working with couples whose wedding dates are affected by finding new wedding dates later this year or in 2021, offering options for smaller ceremonies, or providing a refund upon full cancellations. If you’re having trouble landing a new date, consider a Thursday, Friday, or Sunday. Guests will be excited for a long weekend and you may end up saving. 

Consider getting married with just your officiant present or host a small celebration with your immediate family and maybe a few close friends. Depending on where you live, small groups may be allowed to gather again so you can still have your parents, siblings, best man and maid of honor by your side. For the rest of your guests, set up a Facebook Live or Zoom call so they can attend virtually.
