Demi Lovato and musician Jutes (whose real name is Jordan Lutes) are set to tie the knot! The couple, who publicly revealed their romance in August 2022, recently got engaged in Los Angeles. Jutes, a 32-year-old songwriter, proposed with a custom, amply-sized, pear-shaped diamond solitaire engagement ring. Following the private proposal, the couple celebrated with their families at Craig's, one of their favorite Los Angeles restaurants. Lovato, who uses she/they pronouns, and Jutes initially met in January 2022 while co-writing her song Substance. In addition to collaborating on Substance, Jutes has contributed as a songwriter to Lovato's eighth album, Holy Fvck, earning writing credits on tracks like Happy Ending and City of Angels. The pair began as friends before eventually expressing their feelings for each other and later starting dating. Lovato shared that their romantic relationship with the Canadian recording artist developed gradually, taking "a couple of months" as the artist was initially deeply focused on their professionalism and music. Their relationship with Jutes is Lovato’s first public romance since ending their prior engagement in September 2020 to actor Max Ehrich. Lovato expressed their happiness and is anticipating a future filled with love songs. The couple, dressed in coordinating all-black outfits, looked elated in their intimate engagement photo shoot. Our gemologists at Ritani estimate the pear diamond to be at least 8 carats in weight, or possibly even larger! Jessica Flinn-Allen, the CEO of Jessica Flinn Fine Jewelry, estimates Lovato’s ring to be around nine carats, estimating its value at $630,000 to $760,000. Diamond expert Zack Stone, from UK jewelry retailer Steven Stone, however, estimates the ring to be around five carats with a value of about $200,000. A gemologist at Rare Carat, Karly Bulinksi, estimates the diamond to be about 4.5 carats with a value of around $150,000. Whatever the true carat size and ring value are, everyone can undoubtedly agree that the ring is just as impressive as it is gorgeous!

Similar to oval-cut and marquise-cut diamonds, pear-shaped diamonds also exhibit what is called a bowtie effect, characteristic of their cut pattern. Nevertheless, the visibility of bowties varies. It is advisable to avoid prominent, dark bowties, ensuring that this section of the diamond displays plenty of sparkle. If this area lacks brilliance, the diamond may not be a worthwhile investment.
