‘Return to Amish’ Reality TV Stars Roseanna Miller and Johnny Detweiler Announce Their Engagement

After two years together, TLC’s Return to Amish alums Roseanna Miller and Johnny Detweiler are engaged. The duo, both 20 years old, are the proud parents of a 19-month-old daughter, Clara. The news of their engagement was officially confirmed by the Return to Amish stars through a post on Roseanna's private Instagram page on October 10th. Roseanna also shared a peek at her gorgeous engagement ring with her daughter Clara in the photo, whose hand can be seen holding her mother's bejeweled hand.

The Proposal

One of the images Roseanna shared on her Instagram shows Johnny kneeling and proposing to her, with a waterfall as the backdrop. During the proposal, Clara was also present, seated at her parents' feet. The photos show Roseanna's surprise and joy as Johnny placed the engagement ring on her finger. Fans who have been following Roseanna and Johnny's love story on the TLC show flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages. Roseanna continued to express her joy about the engagement on her Instagram Story, sharing a mirror selfie that showcased her ring once more. She wrote, "Omg, I'm so happy," along with a smiling emoji, a blushing emoji, and a heart emoji.

How Their Love Story Blossomed

Roseanna made her debut on Return to Amish during the show's 6th season in 2021. At that time, she was contemplating leaving the Amish lifestyle and traveled to Florida to explore life beyond the enclosed community she had grown up in. While she was eager to embark on a new life in the 'English' world, she eventually began dating Johnny, who is also Amish and who felt more hesitant about leaving the community. Roseanna and Johnny started their relationship after the filming of season 6, and he appeared on the show in season 7, which aired earlier this year. Their storyline revolved around their differing views on leaving the Amish way of life. In one scene, Johnny admitted, "I just hope that Roseanna is willing to stay Amish for me." In the end, Johnny decided to leave the Amish community with Roseanna, and they are now living a more modern lifestyle. 

They welcomed their daughter, Clara, in March 2022, and Roseanna mentioned their intention to raise her in the 'English' world. While the couple no longer wears traditional Amish attire, Roseanna shared that she is still in contact with her family in Pennsylvania.
