After a very busy year in their New York manufacturing facility, Ritani customer service representatives reflect on trends in engagement ring designs and make predictions on what 2023 engagement ring trends might look like.
"It is no surprise that lab-grown diamonds are being embraced by big brands and consumers - giving shoppers a reasonable alternative to naturally mined diamonds at a fraction of the price," says Juliet Gomes, Ritani Customer Success Manager at Ritani.
Lab-grown diamonds have the exact chemical properties of their counterparts, but with the latest technological innovations, they come with sustainability guarantees. Sustainability is something that has become increasingly important to consumers every year.
Celebrities like olympian Simone Biles have brought even more attention to oval-shaped diamonds this year. "This year we have definitely seen an influx of fancy shapes being set into beautiful engagement rings," said Joel Klein, CEO of Ritani. "Ritani saw a 200% increase in oval shapes being sold this year versus 2021." While round diamonds have always been the most popular shape, fancy-cut diamonds will most likely keep rising in popularity and include oval-shaped, pear-shaped, and emerald-shaped diamonds.
Colored diamonds have always been coveted for their bold appearance and in many cases came with a very hefty price tag. One of the benefits of a colored diamond over any other gemstone is that you get the sparkle only a diamond can offer but the color of a beautiful gemstone. Now lab diamond growers have given consumers an opportunity to have colored diamonds at less expensive prices.
Ritani customers have always had the option of designing customer engagement rings and jewelry, but our team has seen a growing trend of customers taking family heirlooms and reviving them into new beautiful, and meaningful pieces.
Not only are customers reinventing their family jewelry, but our customer service team has seen a rise in sales of vintage engagement ring styles.
We can't all live in Miami, but the Art Deco style is certainly going to make a splash in 2023. This style includes repetitive geometric motifs and clean lines, creating the well-known style with a more modern feel.
"We are seeing a lot of geometric tapered baguettes as side stones, for example," said Juliet Gomes, Customer Success Manager at Ritani.
